From Simple Names to Family Crests

There is plenty of joy in making your own family tree and it does not take much effort – just some white poster paper. To make your own family tree means knowing all about your great-great-grandparents right down to the present and starting from the bottom up or top down is left to individual tastes. Making your own family tree is a good method of keeping up with the lives of the past and present members of the family and serves as a reminder of all the near and loved ones who have made up the family tree.

After having purchased pieces of white poster paper you can get down to the serious business of making your own family tree by putting your own name first at the bottom and then work your way up with the names of siblings, parents, grand parents, great grand parents and great-great-grand parents until you run out of names. In addition, there may also be need to set the dates of birth and deaths, in case they are available, alongside individual names.

For those wanting more elaborate family trees there is also the provision to have family crests, and the meaning of the surname as well as its origin included while making your own family tree. One may also want the family’s own coat of arms and the writing may be of high quality calligraphy to further embellish the family tree.
